KENT, Conn. - Hartok -- This past weekend, Madhu Shetti, MD, a board-certified Radiation Oncologist and celebrated advocate for cancer thrivers, delivered two powerful sessions at Camp Breastie on sun protection and caring for your skin while undergoing cancer treatments. The annual event, which took place from Thursday June 6th to Sunday June 9th at Camp KenMont, brought together survivors, supporters, and health advocates for a weekend of empowerment, education, and community.
Dr. Shetti's first intimate session taught attendees "Everything You Need to Know About Sun Protection with Dr. Madhu". This lively conversation covered individual risk factors, what ingredients to look for, and which to avoid. Dr. Shetti's years of experience as an oncologist paired with her research to develop her own sunscreen, Balmere, made this an exclusive and insightful discussion.
Dr. Shetti's second breakout session, "Caring For Your Skin as a Breastie", explored topics she has experienced first-hand with her patients. With a lack of information available on what is safe for those undergoing cancer therapy, Dr. Shetti found many patients coming to her asking for advice and product recommendations. This inspired her to found Balmere, the "clean meets clinical" solution to prevent skin complications of cancer therapy.

Camp Breastie attendees were able to sample Dr. Shetti's product line in their gift bags, and left with valuable knowledge on sun protection and skin care as cancer thrivers. It was an honor to speak at Camp Breastie and connect with such an incredible group of individuals," said Dr. Shetti. "This event is a testament to the strength and solidarity within the breast and gynecologic cancer community. Together, we can continue to advocate for awareness, support those affected, and strive for advancements in research and treatment."
About Madhu Shetti, MD: Dr. Madhu Shetti is a board-certified Oncologist who treats adult and pediatric patients. She received her Master's in Business Management from Stanford Graduate School of Business (2022); post-graduation she continues as a teacher and mentor at Stanford. Seeing the painful Shingles like rashes & burns her patients experienced during and years after cancer therapy inspired her to found Balmere, skincare for cancer thrivers. It received the prestigious Stanford Impact Founders prize for health innovation. In 24 months, her Stanford women led team (who had loved ones touched by cancer) developed and launched patent-pending, inclusive skincare products so that every person living with cancer, a sensitive immune system, or worried about chemical exposure has access to safe and effective products from a trusted source. Balmere's goal: Live vibrantly for years to come.
